Successful municipalities, like successful companies, need to be attentive to their image and the impression they leave on their community members, their associates or business partners. In 2014, having that in mind, the mayor of Hum na Sutli undertook a complete refurbishment of the interior of the main conference room of the city hall.
Modern interior conforming to tradition
Hum na Sutli is directly bordering the Republic of Slovenia and it is one of the most prosperous Croatian municipalities. Its success is a result of highly developed entrepreneurship stemming from the long-standing tradition of glass manufacturing. Therefore, this municipality has one of the lowest unemployment rates in Croatia. The old, gloomy looking conference room filled with old furniture was not conveying the idea of prosperity. Therefore a comprehensive refurbishment was to be done.
The idea behind the project was to illustrate the fundamentals on which the economy of the municipality was built, without any unnecessary swagger and by as simple concept as possible. Thus, in the interior light tones and smooth surfaces were used, as well as elements made of glass. White color is rather convenient because any subsequent changes can easily be done and all other colours and tones can easily be applied.
The conference room has already proved to be very convenient. It has been used for city council meetings, meetings of the mayor with community members or different organizations, as well as for a wide variety of events.
