A contemporary house with traditional wooden elements
Tourism in Croatia is not reserved only for Istria and Dalmatia. A large number of tourists visit Plitvice Lakes, as well as other pleasant and attractive places in Lika, a region rich in forests. One of our recent projects in Lika was for a house in the municipality of Rakovica, close to Plitvice Lakes. It was intended for numerous tourists visiting the area who wish to stay there for more than just one day.
This is a contemporary house, of a rational floor-plan, in concordance to regulations related to categorisation of vacation rentals. The roof area was utilized in the best possible way, a part of it containing the best apartment in the house, and the other part containing additional facilities: a terrace and wellness.
Although the design is modern, it is interlaced with traditional materials. The roof and large parts of the façade will be covered with wooden shingles, one of such traditional aspects. These kinds of shingles are also used in Alpine countries, but the ones to be used for this house will be produced by local manufacturers.
